This class, which is one of our longest running classes, is designed to take our members to many interesting places and having ‘hands on’ experience of many different subjects.

Floriade first began when Peter Sutton and his colleague, landscape designer Chris Slotemakel De Bruine, developed a proposal for a grand floral display to celebrate Australia’s Bicentenary and Canberra’s 75th birthday – Floriade is now Australia’s biggest
celebration of spring. They say when you turn 30, big things happen and as Floriade
celebrates its 30th birthday, they will be fondly looking back on past event successes and
positively looking forward to future event brilliance. Let’s Explore will awaken from its

winter hibernation in time to help celebrate Floriade’s milestone birthday.

We will be having our first trip of Term 4 on Wednesday, 11th October to Floriade. Tickets $20, which include bus travel and morning tea only – lunch own expense, will be available soon. Please remember this is a Let’s Explore class activity for members enrolled for that class.

Old Mogo Town, near Bateman’s Bay, is an authentically recreated Australian 1840s Gold Rush era Village set on 13 acres of native Australian bushland, bounded on 3 sides by the Mogo State Forest and sits sympathetically mindful of nature and the environment.

We will be having a guided tour with informative tour guides who will help us retrace the story of life during the 1840s Gold Rush including the adventures of Australia’s ‘bloodiest’ bushrangers, the Clarke Gang! We will see the working Stamp Battery, explore the Gold Mine, mining town buildings and pan for our own real gold and have lunch in the Diggers’ Rest Tavern.

Leaving Goulburn at 8am, we will have morning tea en route and will have an hours guided tour before lunch at the Tavern. Tickets $40 include bus travel, morning tea, entry & guided tour and lunch.

As this is a Let’s Explore class excursion, first priority will be given to members enrolled in this class.

Tickets will go on sale Monday, 30th October and bookings will close Monday, 13th November.
